IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING YOUR TICKET:
Whilst cacao is generally considered to be safe & beneficial, there are some contraindications to be aware of:
If you have a known allergy to chocolate, you should avoid drinking cacao completely as the bioactive compounds are more potent than store bought chocolate.
If you have any preexisting cardiovascular issues, ceremonial doses should be avoided and a lower dose considered - caution is advised here.
Cacao can interact with over the counter medications (such as antidepressants, anticoagulants, blood pressure medications, and so on) - so it is advisable to check with your healthcare provider if you are taking medications currently.
If you are sensitive to stimulants (such as caffeine), a lower dose is recommended.
If you live with chronic kidney disease, you should consult your doctor before consuming larger doses of cacao.
If any of the above are applicable to you, please either avoid cacao completely, or discuss with me ahead of time so that we can adjust the dosage based on any medical advice received.
A note on St John’s Wort, 5-HTP, SSRI & MAOI medications: it is generally recommended to avoid drinking cacao due to the elevated risk of serotonin syndrome. Always consult your doctor for advice & direction if you are taking any of these supplements or medications.
